Ingredients:
For the dough:
- 300g flour
- 1 tbsp active dry yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- A pinch of oregano
- Warm water (as needed)
- Olive oil
For the topping:
- Tomato sauce (homemade or store-bought)
- 1 large onion (sliced)
- 1 green bell pepper (sliced)
- Canned tuna
- Grated cheese
- A sprinkle of oregano
Preparation method:
In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, sugar, yeast, and a pinch of oregano. Mix the dry ingredients, then gradually add warm water while mixing until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough for a few minutes until smooth. Drizzle a bit of olive oil over the dough ball, cover the bowl with plastic wrap, and let it rest for about 30 minutes.
After resting, take a round baking tray and line it with parchment paper. Place the dough on the tray, drizzle a little more olive oil on top, and use your hands to gently spread and shape the dough evenly to the edges, forming a nice border. Prick the base of the dough with a fork to prevent bubbling.
Spread a generous layer of tomato sauce over the dough. Sprinkle a first layer of grated cheese. Then, add thinly sliced onions that have been lightly sautéed in a pan with some olive oil, salt, and pepper. Next, add the tuna and green bell pepper slices. Finish with a second layer of grated cheese and a sprinkle of oregano.
Bake in a preheated oven until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
