Whether served as a comforting dessert or a sweet treat with tea, it's sure to impress with its beautiful presentation and irresistible taste.
Ingredients:
For the shortcrust pastry:
- 250g all-purpose flour
- 30g sugar
- 100g cold butter, cubed
- 1 egg
- 3 tbsp water
For the filling:
- 3 large apples, peeled and sliced
- Walnuts
- Raisins
- Sliced almonds
- Dried pineapple
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 3 tbsp sugar
Meanwhile, prepare the filling. In a skillet over medium heat, melt the tablespoon of butter. Add the apples cut into small cubes, sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar, then let them cook while stirring occasionally. The apples will gradually caramelize and release their aroma. Once they are tender and golden, stir in the chopped dried fruits (walnuts, raisins, slivered almonds, and dried pineapple pieces). Mix well and let it simmer for a few minutes so the flavors blend perfectly. Remove from heat and allow to cool.
Take the shortcrust pastry out of the refrigerator and place it on a lightly floured work surface. Using a rolling pin, roll it out into a thin sheet. To cut a large circle, use a pot lid or a large cookie cutter – personally, I used the lid of a large pot. Once the dough is cut, put the remaining pastry dough in the freezer, as it will be needed later.
Take a knife and make small cuts around the edge of the dough, being careful not to cut all the way to the center, just slightly around the edges of the circle. Pour the prepared apple and dried fruit filling in the center of the dough, then begin folding each cut strip one by one over the filling, creating a beautiful pattern. Decorate each folded strip with a walnut for an elegant touch. Once all strips are folded, an opening will remain in the center, showcasing the delicious filling.
Take the reserved dough from the freezer and grate it finely over the surface of the tart to add a crispy and decorative finish.
Finally, bake the tart in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 30 to 35 minutes, until golden brown and crisp.
Let it cool slightly before serving and enjoy this delicious tart with its rich and spiced flavors.
