Ingredients:

For the Potatoes:

  • 2 large potatoes, thinly sliced into rounds
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil
  • Grated cheese

For the Filling:

  • 300g ground beef
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, grated
  • 5 tablespoons tomato sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Paprika
  • Cumin
  • Ginger
  • Ground coriander
  • Garlic powder
  • Grated cheese
Preparation method:
  1. Prepare the Potatoes: Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). In a large bowl, add the thinly sliced potato rounds. Drizzle them with olive oil, then season with salt and pepper. Gently mix to coat each slice evenly. Arrange the potato slices in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, slightly overlapping them to create a continuous layer. Then add a generous layer of grated cheese over the surface of the potatoes. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes, until tender and lightly golden. Remove from the oven and set aside.

  2. Prepare the Filling: While the potatoes are baking, heat a drizzle of olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and sautĂ© until translucent. Then add the ground beef, seasoning with salt, pepper, paprika, cumin, ginger, ground coriander, and garlic powder. Cook the meat, stirring regularly, until browned. Stir in the grated tomatoes and tomato sauce, then let simmer for about 10 minutes until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

  3. Assemble the Roll: Once the potatoes are slightly cooled, spread the ground beef filling evenly over the top of the potatoes. Then add a good layer of grated cheese over the ground beef. Using the parchment paper, gently roll the potatoes up on themselves to form a compact roll.

  4. Final Baking: Place the potato roll in a baking dish. Sprinkle more grated cheese on top to create a nice cheesy crust. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and golden.

  5. Serve: Let it rest for a few minutes before cutting into thick slices. Serve hot with a green salad or grilled vegetables for a balanced meal.

Enjoy your meal!
