Tuna and Cheese Turnovers

Bite into savory perfection with our Chaussons au Thon et Fromage – flaky pastry filled with a mouthwatering mix of tuna, cheese, and fresh vegetables!

Ingredients:

For the dough:

  • 250g of flour
  • 1 egg
  • 50g of butter
  • 8g of baking powder
  • Warm water

For the filling:

  • 3 tomatoes
  • Tomato sauce
  • 1 onion
  • 2 cans of tuna
  • 1 green bell pepper
  • Pitted olives
  • Grated cheese
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Olive oil
  • Chili powder (optional)
  • Parsley

Preparation Method:

For the dough:

Mix all the dough ingredients together until you obtain a smooth dough. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut out circles using a glass.

For the filling:

In a pan, heat some olive oil. Once hot, add the finely chopped onion and green bell pepper. Then, add the chopped tomatoes, tomato sauce, salt, pepper, parsley, and chili powder (optional). Let the mixture cook for 10 to 15 minutes.

Add the tuna and chopped olives to the mixture, and stir well to combine.

Place about a teaspoon of the filling and some grated cheese in the center of each dough circle (adjust the amount based on the size of the circle). Fold the dough over to form a turnover. You can decorate the turnovers with egg yolk and grated cheese.

Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
